§2 personal data
Personal data is information about factual or personal circumstances of a specific or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your name when you register, your e-mail address and all the data that you provide to us when registering for our services, when creating your user account and when using the services.
This does not include statistical data that we collect when you visit our website, for example, and that cannot be linked to your person. For example, these are statistics about which pages of the offered content are particularly popular or how many users visit certain pages of the content.
The use of personal data by us takes place only within the framework of these provisions and is based on the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the Federal Data Protection Act and the Telemedia Act. All data protection regulations are strictly observed.
§3 collection and processing of personal data, revocation
gutefrage uses the collected data for the following basic purposes, although not all data is actually used for all purposes:
Gutefrage uses the personal data stored in your user account (inventory data) to establish and manage the user relationship.
Gutefrage uses the data on your use of the service (usage data) for technical processing and, if necessary, billing for the use of the service.
When you visit our website, our web server temporarily collects and stores technical information (so-called log files) that your browser transmits to us: the domain name or the IP address of your computer, the client’s file request (file name and URL), the http response code and the website from which you are visiting us. The data collected is used for data security purposes, in particular to defend against attempted attacks and to stabilize operational security, and for statistical evaluations. They will be deleted or anonymized after 21 days at the latest. You can revoke your consent at any time. An informal e-mail to us is sufficient. The legality of the data processing carried out before the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation. Please note that an objection to the use of data may result in the termination of your user account.
4.1 Registration by email
A valid email address is required to create a user profile on gutefrage. In order to check, in compliance with the legal regulations, whether you are actually the owner of the specified e-mail address, we collect information that enables such a check. To do this, we use the double opt-in procedure, in which you will receive a confirmation link to the email address you provided after creating your profile. Your profile is only activated after you have confirmed your email address. The data collected in this context are used to send and receive e-mails and will not be passed on to third parties.
If the e-mail address you have stored in your user profile is a temporary e-mail address, or if it is no longer valid over time, we reserve the right to change your user profile without prior warning Clear.
4.2 Automatic messages about transactions
If you use certain functions on gutefrage, we will send you automatically generated notifications by e-mail, for example to inform you about new answers, new comments or your successes on gutefrage. You can manage some of these mail notifications, such as compliments, friend requests or questions about subscribed topics, in your profile settings.
We use the so-called double opt-in procedure to verify your e-mail address for sending subscribed newsletters, ie we will only send you a newsletter by e-mail if you have expressly confirmed to us beforehand activate the newsletter service. We will not make your personal data, which we process for sending the newsletter, available to third parties.
If you no longer want to receive a newsletter from us later, you can unsubscribe at any time with future effect by deactivating it in the profile settings OR you can object to this at any time. Of course you will also find an unsubscribe link in every newsletter.
§5 forwarding of data
gutefrage will only pass on your personal data if:
- the transfer to processors is necessary for the purpose of implementing the user relationship. The data passed on in this way may only be used by our service providers to fulfill their task. Any other use of the information is not permitted and is not carried out by any of the service providers entrusted by us.
- we are legally obliged in exceptional cases to transmit data to a requesting government agency.

5.1 Consent Management
In order to guarantee the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and to provide you as a user with the highest level of transparency, we participate in the Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) from IAB Europe and are subject to its specifications and guidelines. Use of Google services
We use the following technologies from Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). The information automatically collected by Google technologies about your use of our website is usually transferred to a server operated by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheater Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and stored there. There is no adequacy decision by the European Commission for the USA. Our cooperation is based on standard data protection clauses of the European Commission.
For the purpose of website analysis, Google Analytics data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information as well as information about your use of our website) are automatically collected and stored, from which usage profiles are created using pseudonyms. Cookies may be used. As a matter of principle, your IP address will not be merged with other Google data. The data processing takes place on the basis of an agreement on order processing by Google.
For the purpose of optimized marketing of our website, we have activated the data release settings for “Google products and services”. In this way, Google can access the data collected and processed by Google Analytics and then use it to improve Google services. The data release to Google within the scope of these data release settings takes place on the basis of an additional agreement between those responsible. We have no influence on the subsequent data processing by Google.
We also use the extension function of Google Analytics Google Optimize to create and carry out tests.
For web analysis, the extension function of Google Analytics Google Signals enables so-called “cross-device tracking”. If your internet-enabled devices are linked to your Google account and you have activated the “personalized advertising” setting in your Google account, Google can generate reports on your usage behavior (in particular the number of users across all devices), even if you change your device. We do not process personal data in this respect, we only receive statistics based on Google Signals.
For web analysis and advertising purposes, the extension function of Google Analytics, the so-called DoubleClick cookie, enables your browser to be recognized when you visit other websites. Google will use this information to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website activity.
